About

Daniel Brothers (that's me!)

With the unbridled determination of a midwestern workman, and the creative prowess of an ex-catholic turned 'spiritual person', Daniel's artistic exploits have a rugged mystery to them. His formal education took him through the theatrical program of Ohio Wesleyan university (a school that is no longer preaching the Wesleyan faith, and also unrelated to Wesleyan University), where his focus was on laying the groundwork needed to pursue whichever aspects of the theatrical persuasion took him in any given month. Producing several short plays during his time in undergrad, including Sleep, A Mothers Love, and Definitely Not the Cold War. His fascination with using the medium of the stage to its deepest extent, as well as a vague obsession with the understanding and characterization of Death and what lies beyond.

As a creator, he has a deep appreciation for the craftspeople that came before him. Operating an antiques resale and restoration business with his father, he is currently training himself in the various arts of furniture repair. His own creations in woodworking have been a largely collaborative effort, tending to utilize recycled or salvaged materials. "Part of using an old piece of wood, that already has detail and beauty put into it, is that the work changes from creating your own art, and it instead becomes highlighting what is already there." His current focus of learning is the structural elements of furniture repair, disassembly, regluing, carving of replacement parts. After achieving a level of familiarity with this, he plans to turn his attention to finishing work, and then on to upholstery.
