So this Life was Given to Me

So this life was given to me.

Characters: Susan: A worker at an outpost of some sort. 

Ship 1207 Captain: Someone just trying to get by the outpost

At rise: In the command/communication center of the outpost. You see Susan asleep in her chair, mumbling in her sleep. She has a strange worm attached to her head in a very obvious  way. There is an incoming voicemail on a large screen that pings several times as the lights come up before you hear muffled sound in Susan's ear as she awakes. 

Susan: "My name isn't Kate." 

[more muffled sounds]

Susan: [to self] get off the bed. and give me that green thing you're holding, 

[she picks up her mug and takes a sip more muffled sounds]

Susan: "the leak isn't going to fix itself.", what are you saying?

1207: Hello? Ensen Kate are you there? There has been a leak. 

Susan: My name isn't Kate.What is leaking? 

[The door bursts open, a large man enters the room in a coonskin hat]

Susan: What, who are you? 

Chris: Bear is mad. 

Susan: What? 

[Chris grabs a gun from a chest]

Chris: The bear. (cocks gun)  Is mad.

[he turns kicks the door open, you hear the sounds of bears]

Susan: Jesus i feel like I am so lost right now

1207: Are you able to open the skyway for us, or is the leak too great to handle? 

Susan: What is leaking? Does it feel hot to you? 

1207: That would be the flux core

Susan: What is flux you know, (adjusts hair) i hear about flux every time a turn on a tv to any sci phi channel original movie. Flux this, capacitor that. What even are either of those things. I want a story that doesn't rely on strange events, weird words that don't make sense, science that doesn't exist. 

[the sound of a bear attack in the distance with shotgun blasts]

Susan: The simple things. You know? Hey Siri play beans and cornbread. 

[The screen, which has been dark the whole time, spins around revealing a band playing the classic song Beans and Cornbread.]

Susan: Much better

1207: We need you to come in, ensen Kate, something has been causing you trouble on ranthar six and we need your help. 

Susan: I'm not Kate, and I don't want to be either. 

[Chris bursts in holding the door back, he is very much bloody]

Chris: The bear is MAD. 

Susan: So much trouble over this and that and the other thing.

[Beans and cornbread gets to the call and response "like red beans and rice!" ext, ext.]

Susan: Hell yeah! 

1207: Ensen we can't maintain hold much long we just need you to pull the red gate key to let us by. 

Susan: I think i would rather dance. 

1207: Ensen please!

Chris: I'll push a button if you can get me out of here. 

1207: Who is that? If anyone can hear this please open the stargate and let us port through

Chris: Sure! 

[Chris does and leaves the door, the gate opens and the ship passes through]

1207: Thank you soldier. 

Chris: Not a soldier.

1207: Look out for that bear though. 

Chris: Oh geez. 

[Chris Exits pursued by bear, as he does Susan spills some of her green cup on her clothes]

Susan: (to self) You're such a muppet, no uniform is meant to have blobs on it. Now sing me a love song!

[the band spins around and starts to play a love ballad as she dances wordlessly as the lights die out. ]
