Bongo Steals a Loaf of Bread

Characters

Tabitha: A dark haired woman, and a wonderful mother.

Jimmy: A young boy about to meet the real world. Jimmy voices bongo

Sally: A young lady one may describe as precocious

Bongo: A stuffed bear.

Setting

A very cozy and homey suburban home kitchen, which like many suburban kitchen, acts as a intersection for all areas of the house. The table is constantly in the way, but that is just how the house was made and you know, it brings a certain charm. The clock on the wall shows it to be afternoon, and the lights through the windows into the garden show the same.

At Rise

Tabitha is cooking some bread in the oven, she is learning how to bake bread but is otherwise a decent cook as shown by the various tools purchased from a popular home cooking network. Sally runs through the kitchen and under the table. Bongo enters the stage, piloted by Jimmy. Bongo looks around suspiciously.

Tabitha: Bongo?

Bongo: Scilly rapp?

Tabitha: Skilly rap?

Bongo: Scilly rapp mungalung billabop!

Tabitha: Scilly rapp mungalung billabop?

[Jimmy enters sheepishly and The bear indicates the walkway, causing tabitha to note where sally is poorly hiding behind the table, head peeking over it]

Jimmy: Scilly rapp mungalung billabop!

Tabitha: Aaaaah Scilly rapp bop bop in bip.

[Jimmy looks over and catches sally's eye]

Jimmy: (screaming) Scooombaaaaaa!

Sally: EEEEEEEEH!

[Sally runs off with Jimmy and bongo in hot pursuit, Tabitha shakes her head and smiles returning to cooking. Remembering that she is a mother, she says]

Tabitha: Ba squo!

Jimmy: Ya manam!

[you hear the continued sounds of pursuit, tabitha shakes her head, you then hear the unmistakable crash of a pot hitting hardwood floor, followed by silence]

Tabitha: Jimmy, Sally, Bongo?

[Sally runs into the, the kitchen]

Tabitha: Hmmmm?

Sally: Bongo, uh, bongo. Bongo bongo bongo.

Tabitha: Jimmy (no response), Bongo?

[Bongo appears out from backstage, head hung low]

Tabitha: Banomeer.

[Bongo comes as close as he can without Jimmy joining him]

Tabitha: Banomanomeer.

[Bongo pulls jimmy onto the stage, he has a noticeable amount of dirt about him.]

Tabitha: Jimmy!

Jimmy: Manamana!

Tabitha: Wha..

Bongo: Ma Ma Ma Ma!

Tabitha: (says a prayer to herself) Biska poppa floppa?

Bongo: Bingabonga

[Bongo and Jimmy indicate a small size with their arms, Tabitha looks Jimmy up and down, sally pulls on Tabitha's coat and whispers something in here ear much to bongo's dismay]

Tabitha: Rabba?

[Bongo and Jimmy indicate a much larger size]

Tabitha: Bado. Meskantor, badoor, Bado.

Jimmy: Manamanamana!

Tabitha: Ah ah ah! Bongo a mongo

Jimmy: A mongo?

[Tabitha takes bongo from jimmy]

Tabitha: Bongo a mongo, righto hearo.

[Jimmy stamps foot]

Tabitha: Bongo a mongo, placito basigo.

Jimmy: Manama.

Tabitha: Meskantor! Bado!

[Jimmy exits and goes to his room, you hear the sad shuffling footsteps and the lightly slammed door, Tabitha listens and shakes her head setting bongo on the counter]

Tabitha: Sally why do…

[as she was going to pick up sally she looks over into the eyes of bongo and with a smile continues]

Tabitha: Sally Ih baba, swuswuswuswuswu, yipap?

[Sally nods and rushes off to grab a broom, tabitha cuts a piece off of her freshly baked bread and is putting butter on it when sally returns with a broom and dustpan. Tabitha puts the bread and butter on a small plate and hands that and bongo to Sally]

Tabitha: Manda Sally. Bipimbop dipop, eh bongo, ah Jimmy yah?

[Sally nods and takes the two items and rushes off stage to deliver the goods]

Tabitha: Maso brrrr Sally!

[Tabitha grabs the broom and dustpan and shakes her head. Glancing off at where sally ran off to. She removes her apron, grabs the broom and dustpan and exits the stage, a moment passes before Sally returns with bongo, she uses bongo to grab the loaf of bread and then in a nearly identical manor to Jimmy she lets out]

Sally: SCOOOOMBAAAAAAAA!

[Exeunt pursued by mom]
